Over the past week, CenterPoint has been installing new utility services to homes. Remaining tree removals are still planned to be started in the next few weeks. Remaining stumps will be ground out soon and remaining branches, sticks, etc. will be cleaned up prior to construction startup. Next Week, CenterPoint Energy and Michel’s will be completing service installations and removing dirt piles and equipment onsite. They will still be working in the roadway area at times. Please be patient, as travel through the neighborhood will be slow at times. Their work is anticipated to last until Tuesday of next week.

In the next few weeks, other utility companies will be relocating their aerial lines to the new poles and relocating some underground utility items. During the second week of May, Xcel Energy will be onsite to complete multiple underground service relocations. Once CenterPoint and Excel have completed their work, Century Link/Lumen and Mediacom will be onsite to begin their relocation of communication lines in the roadway area. Mediacom is planned to be in the neighborhood as early as the week of May 15th. Century Link/Lumen will be in the neighborhood following Mediacom’s completion of work. The general contractor will be starting up the roadway construction portion of the project once Century Link/Lumen and Mediacom have completed their utility relocations. When the Project General Contractor is onsite, neighborhood access will be limited/allowed only to residents living within the project area. Through traffic will not be allowed as excavation operations will begin to take place in the roadway. If you do not live in the Strawberry Lane neighborhood or within the project area, please utilize other routes when the roadway construction begins.

In the next few weeks, the roadway contractor will be mobilizing equipment, materials, silt fence, and other miscellaneous items to the site. Please note that all supplies and equipment will be staged in the boulevard locations of the project area for the time being. Once the project begins, equipment and materials will be periodically installed and shifted around the site. If you are a resident traveling through the neighborhood, please be patient with delivery crews and contractors on-site. The resident project representative Tom Vidmar will be onsite periodically to introduce himself and begin helping coordinate construction activities. We ask that you please use this email update as a primary source of project schedule information and updates on major construction work to come. Tom will begin introducing himself to everyone along the project site next week. His contact info is listed below. Have a great weekend everyone!

The Strawberry Reconstruction Project was awarded by City Council on October 24, 2022. The first step of the construction phase will be tree clearing. City staff has been marking up the trees anticipated for removals with a dot of pink paint at the base of each tree. If residents have any questions on trees please contact City Engineer, Andrew Budde. The trees will later be marked with a large “X” a few days prior to the actual removal. It is anticipated that trees near the power poles will be trimmed for safety in the next few weeks. This trimming work will be done by Asplundh, coordinated by Xcel Energy. The full tree clearing work will be completed shortly following the trimming work. This clearing work will be done by Precision Landscape & Tree.
