A few months ago, I was reflecting on all the thoughtful people we get to meet and learn from in our work at Tripepi Smith. As I have said before, working in local government puts us on the 50-yard line, front row, to see all the major policy challenges and social changes affecting America. It also means we speak with some really interesting people who spend most of their waking hours thinking about these problems.
Now, we want to share those conversations with you. Earlier this year, Tripepi Smith announced we had acquired and revamped PublicCEO. Our work on that has been tremendous, and I am proud of the progress that our Editor - Alex Applegate - has advanced since she took over in February of this year. Today, that progress continues as we announce the launch of a video and podcast series titled “PublicCEO Report.”
PublicCEO Report will be a twice-a-month, long-format interview with a person of interest who is involved with or addressing challenges facing local government. We are kicking off the PublicCEO Report with Ken Pulskamp, the Executive Director for the California City Management Foundation (CCMF). CCMF has been a client of Tripepi Smith for 20 years, and I have known Ken for about 10 of those years. He brings deep experience and insights into the world of city managers and city council relations, and we explore those areas together in this first episode.
Fundamentally, our soundbite-driven media does not accommodate for nuance, detail or history in how it conveys news. PublicCEO Report’s longer format will allow for a more casual tone and a chance to dive deeper into certain areas. We can escape soundbites and probe where the typical media can’t or won’t. The timing sounds about right.
