UCC Webinar: Water and Environmental Justice

Wednesday, August 10, 1pm

For the UCC’s next Creation Justice webinar, our special guest will be Lynn Thorp who serves as the National Campaigns Director for Clean Water Action. She will discuss how we can make effective and equitable strides in reducing water pollution, including exposure to toxic substances such as the highly toxic “forever” chemicals found in almost everyone’s blood in the U.S. Even if you can’t make the scheduled time of 1 pm ET on Wednesday, August 10th, still sign-up, and you will receive a recording. Register now!

2022 ONA National Gathering

Friday, August 5 - Sunday, August 7, 7pm-9pm (virtual)

Join us Aug. 5-7 for our first National ONA Gathering since 2019! Our virtual event will celebrate the 50th anniversaries of the ONA Coalition and Bill Johnson’s ordination as the first openly gay man called to serve an historic Christian church as a minister of word and sacrament. Leaders include the Rev. Rhina Ramos (preacher), Bishop Yvette Flunder (closing address and charge), the Rev. Bill Johnson, the Rev. Anne Holmes (first openly lesbian woman ordained in the UCC), and the Rev. Andy Lang (State of the ONA Movement).

The theme is “Shaping Generations: Queer Justice and Love in the UCC.”

In this perilous time when God’s LGBTQ+ children are again under attack—especially transgender and nonbinary youth who have been stigmatized by politicians and churches—we will gather in August to hope, dream and work for a future where everyone is wanted, everyone is needed, no one is abandoned because they are different.

Because this is a virtual event, registration should be within the means of any congregation. For those who for any reason cannot pay the fee, a free registration option is available with a suggested, but not required, donation.

This will also be the Rev. Andy Lang’s last National Gathering as executive director. Andy will deliver a “State of the ONA Movement” address Friday night. We’ll also honor the Rev. Michael Schuenemeyer, who retires as the Minister for Health and Wholeness Advocacy later this year, and whose ministry has had a deep impact on the struggle for queer rights.
