Bias is defined as prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair. Bias conditions how we look at the world and the people in it,despite our conscious motivations and desires. This is a word used often when racial tensions are discussed. It is important to understand bias to confront it at a personal and institutional level.
Biased: Uncovering the Hidden Prejudice That Shapes What We See, Think, and Do by Jennifer L. Eberhardt provides a guide to recognize and understand bias and what each of us can do about it.
