time_2_learn_vector.jpg
Think you know the UCC? Think again!  The History and Polity of the United Church of Christ is offered every fall in NEOSOM (Northeast Ohio School of Ministry), our Association’s education program, and it returns this fall to help all of us who love the UCC learn more about our roots, our theology, and how we get the job of being church done. Five Saturdays in October and November from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., concluding at the Annual Meeting of the Association. Watch this space or contact Gene McAfee, dean of NEOSOM, for more information ( deanofschools@livingwaterone.org ).

The Cross and the Lynching Tree Book Discussion
Author James H. Cone wrote: “I offer my reflections because I believe that the cross placed alongside the lynching tree can help us to see Jesus in America in a new light, and thereby empower people who claim to follow him to take a stand against white supremacy and every kind of injustice.” Join members and friends of First Church, Akron, and guest facilitator Bishop John Selders, Organizing Pastor of Amistad United Church of Christ and Assistant Dean of Students, Trinity College, Hartford, CT, on Wednesdays in August at 7pm on zoom. UCC Webinar on The Green New Deal and Reparations
When it comes to justice-oriented policy proposals that seek to fundamentally transform our society, the Green New Deal and reparations currently rise to the top. Yet, often they are discussed separately, despite clear and compelling connections. The Green New Deal Resolution proposed in Congress sought "to promote justice and equity by stopping current, preventing future, and repairing historic oppression." At the same time, the demand for reparations compels our society to address the historic injustices of systemic racism, including environmental racism. To explore such connections and how faith communities can work to advance just policies, this webinar will feature three panelists: Congresswoman Barbara Lee,  350.org ’s North America Director Tamara Toles O'Laughlin, and the UCC’s Economic Justice Minister Sekinah Hamlin.  Register now!
