On November first, Rev. Bill Terry and worshipers at the First United Church of Christ in Austinburg planted 500 white marker flags in remembrance of more than 234,000 citizens of the United States, (and counting) who have died due to Covid 19 and its related effects.
During worship, the traditional list of names of church members who passed away, during the previous year, was read with a candle and the toll of a chime. After church, there was a brief dedication and invitation to fill our church yard with the flags to honor the fallen victims of Covid-19.
As of November first, each flag represented over 460 lives lost.
