Street Slurry Work Begins Monday, May 19th

Street Parking Is Limited on Slurry Days

On Monday, May 19th, ICHA will commence with asphalt slurry operations for half of the University Hills community. This year’s project is limited to the residential streets in our older phases of the community (west of Gabrielino Drive and north of California Avenue) (see map below). No commuter streets will be slurried this year (Los Trancos, Vista Bonita, Gabrielino, California or Owen Court between Vista Bonita Dr. and California Ave.). The remaining residential streets will be slurried next year at this time.

The street slurry project continues through June 4th. Work hours for the project will be Monday through Friday, 7:30AM – 4PM.

This year we will slurry seal three streets per day. The process starts with crews cleaning the street; then the actual slurry application, followed by drying time. Once dry, the crew will remove any barricades, and the street will be open for use. There are some areas where two or more streets converge. In these situations where it sounds as though you could be trapped, we will slurry only a portion of the street so that traffic may pass. The crew will return at a later date to complete the area. There should be no situation where vehicular access to your home is blocked (the exception is the published slurry day for each residential street).

Please refer to the attached schedule for information about specific streets and their slurry days. Each street on the attached schedule will be closed for one day (7:30AM – 4:00PM). On the day your street is slurry sealed there will be no vehicle access to or from your street from 8:00AM to approximately 4:00PM. Vehicles must be cleared from the streets no later than 7:30AM. Vehicles can be parked in garages and driveways or moved to another adjacent street if you anticipate needing your car on the slurry day. Please make arrangements with nannies, contractors, etc. Please refer to the attached schedule to determine the closest adjacent street to park on slurry day.

Lastly, please be careful when turning any vehicle on a newly paved street surface as it takes several days for the mix to completely cure. Please avoid turning the wheel when the car is not in motion.
