Welcome to the August 2021 edition of Street Talk, updating you on street and other roadway and infrastructure projects in Garland.

Shiloh Road Project: Major Lane Closures All Month

If you have been driving on Kingsley Road near the Shiloh Road intersection during the weekends, you have probably noticed construction. Paving work is taking place there as part of the Shiloh Road Project. Work is expected to occur every weekend until early September. If weather permits, construction will start every Friday around 8 p.m. and finish every Monday around 7 a.m. before the morning commute begins. Eastbound traffic on Kingsley Road will be routed north or south on Shiloh Road. Westbound Kingsley Road will be detoured to Shiloh Road via Scottswood Drive. Northbound and southbound Shiloh Road will be open. We expect traffic delays and recommend that you plan accordingly. We appreciate your patience. Transportation: Updates to Signalized Intersections

As you drive through the city, you may encounter some delays at traffic signals. Currently, the City of Garland Transportation Department has projects underway at several intersections. It is likely that you will find the signals flashing or under all-way stop control. The improvements include the installation of state-of-the-art signal cabinets and controllers as well as the replacement of aged and damaged traffic signal cables. The new cabinets and controllers will provide enhanced technology that will assist in managing the growing traffic demand on our streets. There are currently 194 traffic signals in operation in the city and it is anticipated that all traffic signals will be upgraded over the next several years through approved bond funding. Streets: Future Projects
