Welcome to the July 2021 edition of Street Talk, updating you on street and other roadway and infrastructure projects in Garland.
Buckingham Road Railroad Crossing Improvement
The Garland Street Department is working with the Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCS) to improve the crossing on Buckingham Road, just west of Lavon Drive (SH 78). Construction is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Friday, July 23. The KCS will start the process of replacing the track infrastructure on their rail line where it crosses East Buckingham Road. The entire roadway will be closed until the work is complete. It should be open to traffic after 7 p.m. Sunday, July 25. The businesses between the KCS crossing and North First Street will have limited access during the construction process. A detour around the work zone will be in place during the construction. Please expect traffic delays and plan accordingly.

This is important to mention because each type of project involves its distinctive process and duration.
