Railroad Crossings Improvement Projects

Have you noticed there is construction near railroad crossings in Garland? Here's an explanation of what's going on and what you can expect as work continues in these crossings.

Engineering: Bobtown Road and Other Projects

The Engineering Department is working on multiple projects. The project with major updates is the Bobtown Road/Waterhouse Boulevard Project. Check out these updates and information on other projects below!

Bobtown Road/Waterhouse Boulevard Project

This project is ongoing with several major traffic changes. The contractor is now working on utilities and paving, so traffic on Bobtown Road between Waterhouse Boulevard and Country Club Road/Rosehill Road is one-way going westbound toward Country Club Road/Rosehill Road. Waterhouse Boulevard is one-way going from Hayman Drive southbound toward Bobtown Road. Rosehill Road between Bobtown Road and Interstate 30 is down to two lanes with one lane open each way. This will be ongoing until spring 2022.  The contractor is also working on Country Club Road between Bobtown Road and Rowlett Road. They are preparing to pave back median openings and utility patches.  This entire project is expected to be complete by the summer of 2022. Stay tuned more updates!

Glenbrook Drive Project

We have great news! The project on Glenbrook Drive from Carroll Drive to Centerville Road is nearing completion. Currently, Glenbrook Drive is closed to complete major sewer renovation and repaving. We expect this road to be open by the end of November.

Carroll Drive Sewer Project

At this time, the contractor is working to complete paving of eastbound Carroll Drive and major sewer work on Douglas Drive. Douglas Drive is currently closed between Bardfield Avenue and Carroll Drive, but is expected to open to at least one-way traffic by the end of the month. Eastbound Carroll Drive is anticipated to open in December while the contractor prepares to pave the westbound lane.

Shiloh Road Project

This major project is making considerable progress. The contractor is currently paving the northbound lanes of Shiloh Road between State Highway 78 and Kingsley Road. We expect all paving to be complete and two lanes open in each direction by the end of the year, while landscaping and irrigation work will continue into 2022.   For more information about these projects, contact Senior Field Engineer Mike Rozelle at 972-205-2174.

Streets: Future Projects

The following street projects are scheduled to begin in November and December: Devonwood Drive from Saturn Road to KCS Railroad Track (Street Reconstruction) Lesa Lane/Maydelle Lane Alley from Centennial Drive to Western Drive (Alley Reconstruction)  Mayfield Avenue from Centerville Road to Saturn Road (Street Reconstruction)  Shiloh Road from Buckingham Road to Walnut Street (Concrete Street Repair) Walnut Street from Garland Avenue to Glenbrook Drive (Concrete Street Repair) If you are interested in learning about other active alley reconstruction, street reconstruction and street rehabilitation projects, visit the Street Department Current Projects webpage to view the list of all current construction projects.
