Dear River Forest residents,
This coming Sunday marks the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on our country. We can remember those we have lost and honor those who sacrificed themselves to provide aid, by attending the annual charity LemonAid Stand fundraiser - founded in 2002 by a group of our residents and their children who wanted to create positive memories through fundraising and honor this tragic anniversary date. The LemonAid stand will take place this Sunday, September 11 from 3-7 p.m. at the 700 block of Bonnie Brae. Please come out and show your support for our community. On Monday, the Village Board will consider amendments to the Zoning Code regarding solar panels. The amendments are designed to simplify the approval process for solar panel installation and to create safe regulations for the systems. The amendments will also allow the Village to apply for a SolSmart Silver designation from the U.S. Department of Energy. There are only 14 communities in Illinois that currently have a Silver level designation, River Forest continues to be a leader in sustainability!
Finally, the Dooley Band Concert, an annual tradition sponsored by the River Forest Public Library Foundation, will be performing this Saturday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m. and more information is available here. Also, save the date for the Oak Park River Forest High School homecoming dance on Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m. and find details on the event here.
Sincerely,
