A Pennsylvania man who was recently going through security at a New Jersey airport was found to have a live turtle concealed in his pants. The turtle was detected after a body scanner alarm went off at Newark Liberty International Airport. A TSA officer then conducted a pat-down and determined there was something concealed in the groin area of the gentleman's pants.

Are you excited for the weekend, or is that just a turtle in your pants? Here's some stuff to do:

Moon ride. Take a full-moon ride with Bike Newport this evening along Newport's shoreline. The ride starts at Equality Park and follows the Ocean Loop.

Walk the 'Nap. Join naturalists Saturday in Westerly, R.I., for a morning walk at the Napatree Point Conservation Area and learn about the natural history of the barrier beach.

Wild books. Visit Symposium Books in Providence on Saturday for an author event with Brad Timm, as he discusses his book "Wildlife Out Your Window: Fascinating Facts About 100 Animals Commonly Seen in the Northeastern U.S." Timm, a wildlife ecologist and executive director of the Northeast Wildlife Team, will share his favorite facts from the book, discuss simple actions you can take to help wildlife, and answer your wildlife questions.

To submit your event — weekend or otherwise — to our events calendar, fill out this form on our website. For greater visibility, you can take out an ad in this newsletter (which hits 13,000 subscribers) or on our website.
