City Officials recently had a kickoff meeting with NCICG and officials from District 3 Illinois Department of Transportation regarding the $250,000.00 Safe Route to School Grant the City in conjunction with the Marseilles Elementary School did a joint application and received the replace sections of sidewalk utilized with children going to a from school.
SCOPE: Project will replace and provide new ADA compliant sidewalks and sidewalk curb ramps along the street previously identified by the engineer.
TIMING: 1 year to have engineering agreement in place – December 2024
3 years after Notice to Proceed for completion of Construction
6 months after Notice to Proceed for pre-project evaluation data.
1 year after completion of the project for post-project evaluation data

The LaSalle County Health Department has advised the City that they have been testing for West Nile Virus this summer and recently had a site towards the west side of town test positive. They stated they also had a pool test positive. Their recommendation is to promote proper use of insect repellant and reduce time spent outdoors as much as possible. The Mayor met with the owner of the new Mexican Restaurant El Patron that is going to be opening in town and he stated his target date for opening is the first part of October. The City will be doing an official ribbon cutting ceremony soon!
The City is still waiting for direction from the Federal EPA regarding moving forward with the Brownfield Grant on the Nabisco Building and Washington School.
2024 Street Program is in full swing as well as the Broadway Park Renovation. Please take extra caution when traveling throughout town and be patient with any minor delays.
