Nature Photography Workshop

Part 1

Tuesday, June 21| 10 - 11:30am | IN-PERSON


Come join us as we learn about the basic rules of composition and see how quickly your images take on a fresh look. Whether you use a camera phone, a point and shoot, a bridge camera, a mirrorless camera or a DSLR, all are welcome to learn new ways of seeing.

(Please note that this is not a class to learn the technical features of your camera/device.)


Instructor Maureen Grandmont is a local master photographer whose work can be seen in May at the Plymouth Center for the Arts, or at the Cape Cod Art Center in June.

Take what you learned in Part 1 and join us as we take photos of our local environment.

Part 2 has limited spots so please register early! Participants should bring their camera as well as bug spray and wear long pants and long sleeves as it is tick nymph season.

Overview of UCLA Memory Training Program (BACC)

At this special program from Stacey Cullen, Barnstable Council on Aging Caregiver/ Support Services Coordinator, you will learn:

  • How to reduce your memory burden

In this FREE two-hour workshop, Joan Berglund, certified Stott® Pilates instructor, will review the basics of the Stott® method of Pilates through physical practice and a discussion of theory.


The Essential matwork repertoire is beginner-friendly but experienced practitioners can also learn ways to deepen their understanding of Pilates-based movement.

Cape Cod Massachusetts abounds with maritime stories involving deep sea travel, packet boat journeys, whaling expeditions, early American naval skirmishes, all types of ship building innovations and enough fishing stories to fill up a large trawler.

Calling all teens for weekly poetry writing workshops this summer!


Local poet Carol Traynor-Mayer will lead weekly poetry workshops for teens this summer in the Young Adult Room at CPL.  Participants do not need any experience reading or writing poetry!


The workshops will involve reading from a variety of poems with themes teens care about written by a diverse range of poets.  Pizza will be provided!

LIBRARY NEWS

In collaboration with YMCA Cape Cod, the Kids Summer Lunch Program is coming to Centerville Public Library!


Beginning June 16 and running throughout the summer, kids 18 years old and younger can get a free bagged meal.


Visit us on the back patio at 12pm to receive a meal and enjoy the sunshine.


First come, first served. Meals must be eaten on site.

June is Pride Month!  We invite you to contribute to our paper chain in the front lobby and in the Children's Room.


We ask you to join in community to write a message of kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Artist of the Month: Vittoria Sault


Native Cape Cod artist Vittoria Sault is a graduate of The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston/Tufts University combined program and Bridgewater State College. She has exhibited paintings at the Falmouth Art Guild and Cotuit Center for the Arts and has taught art in many settings for both children and adults.


Her paintings will be for sale and on display throughout the main reading room. A portion of the proceeds will help support the library.
