Stronger Together: Board Chair Marion D. Floyd Calls on Greater New Orleans Nonprofits to Join the Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits

Synergy (noun): a mutually advantageous conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements, such as resources or efforts. (Merriam-Webster.com)

by Marion D. Floyd, Board Chair of the Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits

BATON ROUGE, LA (October 19, 2026) - Nonprofits are being asked to do more with less. Demand for services keeps rising while funding keeps shrinking, and no organization can afford to face that alone. Partnering with similar organizations widens the territory an organization can serve and the base of support it can draw on.

Louisiana’s nonprofit sector has grown rapidly. In 2014, the state had about 12,815 nonprofits. Based on 2023 data, it now has more than 20,000, employing over 150,000 Louisianians. About 4,500 of them have annual revenues between $100,000 and $4 million. These small and mid-sized organizations are filling the gaps in our communities, and they deserve every resource available to keep doing that work.

That is why Marion D. Floyd, Board Chair of the Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits, is urging local organizations to start 2027 with a commitment to collaboration by becoming members. The Alliance is a statewide membership organization and a central resource hub, building nonprofit capacity through education, training, and opportunities to collaborate. The nonprofits of greater New Orleans already do tremendous work for our community. Together, with shared knowledge and shared resources, they can do even more, and do it sustainably.

As Board Chair, Mr. Floyd’s priority is to raise the Alliance’s visibility in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. A stronger Alliance means more sustainability and more resources for organizations serving those who need help across our area.

Join the Alliance. Start 2027 stronger.
