Finding Peace at Family House

Family House made a world of difference to Shelby and her family.

Shelby’s 4-year-old son Stryder was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in January 2022. Since then, Shelby’s family has come from Lodi, California to stay at Family House while Stryder receives treatment at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

“Having people who truly care about me, my child, and our entire family makes a world of difference while going through something so difficult,” said Shelby. “We have stayed at Family House too many times to count now. Truly, it’s our home away from home.”

I had the most wonderful experience at Family House! It was amazing to see how much Family House has grown since 2021 during COVID-19.

Kids were running around in the hallways playing tag, families and staff were mingling with each other in the kitchen and lounges, and arts and crafts sessions were back, and I could feel the light that Family House is made of. I am incredibly grateful and proud to be a part of this organization and to say that I contributed, along with all the other amazing staff, to build Family House back up to what it once was.

SF Giants honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and our San Francisco Giants invited Family House patients, parents and siblings to attend a special meet and greet with Buster Posey and stay for the game against the Colorado Rockies. We're thankful for our team's support in honoring and bringing awareness to our families' situations. Some lucky Family House kids even got their art highlighted on the jumbotron!
