Dear St. John's Families,

We are excited to be celebrating our St. John’s community with another fun and spirited Games Day tomorrow. There are so many reasons why we celebrate St. John’s, but one that stands out the most is the way we all pitch in when one of us is in need.

With this in mind, Student Council is hoping we can once again come together to support a member of our community whose family was recently impacted by Tuesday’s shooting in Northeast Dallas. Officer Crystal Almeida, who was critically wounded in that shooting, is a cousin of one of our own campus officers, and she faces a long and difficult recovery with an untold amount of medical expenses and lost wages. The Assist the Officer Foundation has a goal of raising $150,000 dollars to help cover her expenses and to assist the family of Officer Rogelio Santander, who passed away Wednesday morning. StuCo will kick off the drive with a $1,350 donation from funds raised throughout the school year, and will set up donation stations at morning carpool and at lunch from tomorrow, April 27 through next Friday, May 4. Students may also hand deliver donations to Mr. Adler or Mrs. Polk.

National Police Week begins on May 13, and we’d like to get an early start in thanking our men and women in blue by helping those impacted by Tuesday’s tragedy. Thank you for anything your family can contribute. We are truly grateful for everyone’s role in cultivating this special and strong community.

All the best,
St. John's Student Council
