Christmas Party on Dec 8th.

Join us in our final celebration of the calendar year on December 8th at First Church from 5p-830p. There are a few things that you should know so check out the list below.

  • You need to dress up. (We only ask you to do this once a year. Normally you wear what ever makes you feel comfortable, but we will be taking a group picture that we want to show our students looking their bests. No graphic T's and no shorts. But feel free to dress up!)
  • A Donation for dinner would be appreciated. (We will be catering the meal with ton's of great food. If you would like to donate it out of your account as a, you can.)
  • Bring a gift with you. (Please bring a wrapped, unlabeled, unisex gift valued at about 15 to 20 dollars with you if you would like to play the Christmas Gift Exchange Game. You do not need to bring a present to come to the party.)

It's going to be a fun time of Games & Fellowship. You might even win a prize too. So we hope to see you there. Sign ups available on MinHub NOW, so we know how much food to bring.

Christmas Service Project 12/10&11

December 10th and 11th we are doing a Service Project to benefit the homeless in our community. We are traveling to Dollar Tree in the bus to purchase items to assemble gift boxes for once we open the cold night shelter at our church. Please bring $10 or more dollars to help buy the items to fill the shoe boxes. We already have some of the toiletries ready to pack. Then we'll write a Christmas Card and then wrap the presents. There is a list of other things that you can bring below.

Rock the Universe January 25th, 2025

Your $25 deposit is due Sunday Jan 12th. If you get it in on or before the 12th, you get the $10 discount to the event. You will only have to pay the $100 balance. If you have not paid your deposit your total will be $135 before Jan 22nd.

SCHEDULE:

The schedule is that we will be leaving at 12:00p on Saturday January 25th. We will stop at CiCi's Pizza (in Orlando) for students to have a late lunch before entering the parks. This way they can get a filling meal for very little money comparability to the expensive park foods. We are welcomed to enter the park at 4p. Concerts will begin around 6p.

While there, students will get an entry ticket to Universal Studios in which the concerts will be held. They will also receive a fast pass ticket which will get them 1 fast pass entry per ride in the park. (Exceptions include The Train to Diagon Ally)

Students will be responsible for any souvenirs or additional food/drinks in the park. We are limiting students to $25 souvenir money. Please watch the weather as we get closer. Rain means students should bring a poncho. Cold weather means a jacket. Middle School Students will have to stay with a Screened Chaperone at all times throughout the night. High Schoolers must stay in groups of 3 or more. The members of each high school group must report to Tony and can not deviate without him knowing. If he calls a high school group, when they answer, he must talk to everyone in the group. If they can not answer because they are on a ride (or about to get on one), they have 15 minutes to call him back. If they can not produce each member to speak on the phone or do not answer or call back within 15 minutes, they may lose privileges of being on their own.

We will leave Orlando for home at about 1:30am and return at about 3:00a. Parents will need to arrange pickup at 3:00am. The concert lineup is:

Forrest Frank

Bethel Music

ELEVATION RHYTHM

Josiah Queen

2025 Confirmation Class Registration Now Open.

Confirmation refers to the decision a person makes to respond to God’s grace with intentional commitment, publicly reaffirming his or her baptismal vows before the congregation, and baptism for those not previously baptized. Most confirmands are youth between the ages of ten and fourteen or older, who have been nurtured in the church since their baptism as an infant or young child; but not limited to such (up graduating 12th graders).

During this class, confirmands will learn about the meaning of their Christian faith; the founding, history and teachings of the United Methodist Church; and an explanation of the baptismal and membership vows they will be professing on Confirmation Sunday. Completion of the class will give each confirmand an opportunity to obtain full membership to FUMCPO by confession of faith and commitment to the Church.

First UMC of Port Orange typically offers the confirmation class on Wednesday evenings from 5-6p, consecutively for 8-10 weeks. Students who sign up for the class are heavily encouraged to the kickoff weekend on February 7 – 8, 2025 at the Warren Willis Camp in Fruitland Park, FL where students will participate in their first 3-4 classes.

Students are asked to consider giving a $40 donation for students ($120 for parents) for this weekend? Confirmation Sunday will be held the first Sunday in May. Speak with the Senior Pastor or Youth Minister for more information.
