Update from Norwin School District
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Taylor
May 1, 2020
Dear Norwin Families and Community Members,

As we turn the calendar to May, our thoughts naturally turn to our Senior Class of 2020. May is typically the month that our Senior Class has an opportunity to gather for many events to celebrate the culmination of 13 years of hard work, friendships, and experiences. The month of May usually serves as a time for our seniors to experience a sense of closure as their time in the Norwin School District comes to an end.

Today we learned that Governor Wolf did not remove the restrictions from Westmoreland County. This prevents our school and community from having a partial reopening in May. As a result, the somber reality set in for me as I had to accept the fact that our Senior Class of 2020 will not have the opportunities for closure this May that they earned and deserved. I cannot begin to imagine the sense of disappointment our seniors are feeling as they are mourning the loss of the normal activities associated with the end of a senior year.

Acknowledging our senior's sense of loss, it becomes more important than ever for us to come together as a community to recognize and celebrate our seniors.

In an effort to celebrate our seniors, I am pleased to share several upcoming events that will honor the Class of 2020. The District invites all students, families, and community members to join our "Senior Celebration." Please find below a series of events that were designed to support our Class of 2020 during this difficult time.

Please continue to stay safe, healthy and #NorwinStrong !

Best regards,

Dr. Jeff Taylor
Superintendent
