Dear Student Affairs Team,

I want to start by thanking you for your dedication and commitment to our students and to one another as we work together to align our structure with the future needs of our institution. As we have shared previously, over the past few months, we’ve engaged in meaningful conversations with leadership across the division to listen, reflect, and reimagine how we can better support student success—especially in areas like onboarding, advising, enrollment, and the overall student experience. I wanted to share with you some of the things we have been doing since our last Roundtable discussions.

What We’ve Been Doing:

  • We’ve held several working sessions with Associate Vice Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, and Human Resources to align our leadership structure with our Theory of Change and ACC’s long-term strategic goals.
  • We’ve reviewed every area of Student Affairs to identify opportunities to streamline services, elevate leadership, and create more cohesive experiences for students.
  • We’ve invited key leaders to share feedback in areas where there may be an overlap within divisions to ensure we’re making thoughtful, inclusive decisions.
  • We have worked closely with our HR partners and consultants to ensure this process is guided by equity, transparency, and care.

What’s Ahead – Key Timeline Highlights:

  • April 22nd & 23rd: We will have Roundtable talks around the district where we share the new structure of the Student Affairs Council.
  • From late April to early May: Our associate vice chancellors will meet with all divisions to answer any questions you may have regarding the realignment.
  • In May/June: We will host regional roundtables and roadshows to walk through the structure in depth, along with expectations and pathways for growth.
  • During the Summer of 2025: We will finalize roles and transition support discussions.

This process is not just about job titles or organizational charts—it’s about ensuring we have the right leadership in the right places to meet students where they are, remove barriers, and help them reach their goals.

We’re in a season of possibility. I’m deeply proud of how this team continues to lead with empathy, excellence, and accountability.

With appreciation,

Dr. Shasta Buchanan
