Starting Monday, March 30, we're here to guide you as you venture into new territory!
We know that you have many questions as to how this new remote support landscape impacts your courses and student experience at ACC. This is a new frontier for all of us, so we want to share with you what we do know and what we're still learning. Above all, know we're here to help and believe in your ability to finish strong.
Here's what we do know:
Remote College: Starting next week all of your courses and student serviceswill be available online only (by phone, email, or video chat). For your courses, please check Blackboard and communicate with your professor.
Payment Plan Deadline:The tuition payment plan deadline for spring classes is extended to April 8, 2020.
Scholarship Deadline Extension: The ACC General Scholarship Application priority date is extended to May 1, 2020.
Financial Aid: You are eligible to receive a Special Conditions Form if your situation has changed and you need to request more financial aid (if available to you). Email: finaid@austincc.edu
Work-study: Students receiving work-study will continue to be paid to the end of the semester.
Student Emergency Fund: Currently enrolled students who plan to stay enrolled and are experiencing financial hardship can apply for the Student Emergency Fund at austincc.edu/SEF
Textbooks: Students who rented textbooks from the bookstore have until May 15, 2020, to make returns. To initiate a return, visit the following link and complete the step-by-step instructions.
Technology Request: If you do not have access to technology at home please fill out the Student Computer and Internet Access Form as an initial step. Once completed, a member of our team will follow up with you.
Student Life: To continue events, Student Life is in the process of organizing virtual events to help students stay connected to the campus community experience. Contact sl@austincc.edu for updates.
Community Resources: We understand during this time you may have needs best met by our community partners. Our Student Support Center is actively updating this list of community resources. Or, you can contact 211.
Support Center: Advocates are available online/phone during normal business hours to assist you with needs, including helping you apply for SNAP food benefits. Contact ACC Support Center at scprogram@austincc.edu for questions.
Child Care: If you are receiving child care assistance from ACC Support Center, we will continue to pay our part for the rest of the semester as long as you are enrolled and the daycare is open, even if you don't take your child(ren).
Summer Term: Registration for summer courses will open May 4 -- all students, current, returning, and new.
Here's what we do not know, yet:
Online Operations: We may be operating online until the end of semester, there has not been a formal announcement.
Withdrawals: We are working to understand how withdrawals will be handled by the college if due to COVID-19.
