it won't make a life meaningful either." - Donald Miller

Student Affairs Core Values

Students are the center and reason for our work. We value all students and the opportunities we have to be a part of their education and personal development. We value the unique strengths, skills, life experiences, and talents each student contributes to the learning environment.

We strive to shape an environment of respect and openness, allowing for the free exchange of ideas and viewpoints. We strive for proactive and continual communication between departments and within the University.

We strive for the highest levels of professional standards and integrity. Strong ethics and morals must serve as the foundation for our policies, procedures, services, and relationships with students and one another.

We strive to promote and support diversity in all of its forms at the University and within our Division. We value the uniqueness of each individual and we value what each individual contributes to our organization. We are committed to learning from talents and gifts offered by each member of the UNA community.

We strive to work together as a collective team, positively supporting, motivating, and challenging each other.

Innovation / Creativity / Adaptability
We strive to constantly seek positive and creative change to adapt to the needs and visions of students and the University that will promote a campus of vitality and purpose.

University Health Services

University Health Services is the on-campus medical provider. We are poised and equipped to meet the acute care needs of the University community, including students, faculty, and staff. We offer medical, pharmaceutical, and laboratory services, as well as health education. Patients can be seen on a walk-in basis during the morning hours and by appointment after 1:00 p.m. daily. Come see us for your healthcare needs and/or let us know if you are interested in a classroom presentation, presentation for your student group, or a tour of our facility. We look forward to keeping the University community healthy!

University Police

The University of North Alabama Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency. UNA Police officers are Alabama Peace Officer Standard and Training Commission certified. The UNA Police have the authority to investigate crime, search, and make arrests. We are sworn to protect persons and property and to enforce the laws of the State of Alabama and the rules and policy of the University of North Alabama.

UNA Police Officers patrol all campus buildings, properties, and grounds in a prescribed manner. These patrols are designed to deter and detect crimes and to safeguard the property and facilities. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patrols are made by officers on foot, in marked cars, and on bicycles and Segways. Specialized police services provided by officers include: criminal investigations, accident investigations, evidence technicians, mountain bike patrol, RAD (Rape Aggression Defense), ALICE active shooter training, CERT response, an explosives trained K-9, outreach teams and special victims unit.

The UNA Police Department has a cooperative relationship and works very closely with the Florence Police Department and the other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. We interact with and provide an investigator to the Shoals Area One Place facility. The Chief of Police is a member of the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police.

UNA Police officers work together with University community members to create a safe learning environment. We strive to increase the community's involvement in assuring this result. Officers are encouraged to create relationships with community members. Officers will take a proactive approach to anticipating problems that cause or allow criminal activity. In all actions, UNA Police strive to improve the quality of life on the campus and in our community.
