Over the past few weeks, we’ve continued the important work of reimagining how we support students—and each other. This has included deep engagement across teams, courageous conversations, and a shared commitment to our values of courage, compassion, yes and joy! Here's what we've been focusing on:
Leadership Structures:
Our Executive Deans have been thoughtfully shaping leadership models that prioritize student success and align with the unique needs of their areas. They will soon present a set of leadership competencies that will guide how we lead, support teams, and drive impact in the next phase of our evolution.
Focus Groups:
SWIM Consultants led a series of staff-only focus groups on May 19–20, designed to gather honest, candid feedback across the following areas:
- Recruitment & Welcome Services
- Career Services & the Make It Center
- Advisors, Success Coaches, and Academic Coaches
- Administrative Support, Intake, & Registration
- International Student and Study Abroad Services
- Accelerators & Learning Labs Support Services
Initial themes and takeaways will be shared in our upcoming Roundtable Discussions.
Vacant Leadership Positions:
As previously shared, several leadership positions are available, including the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Advising & Student Planning and the Executive Deans for Assessment & Admissions, Student Life, Transfer, International Student Services, and the Senior Directors for Communication, Strategy & Transformation, and Talent Development (Centralized area). While we do not have a specific posting timeline, these roles will be listed on the internal Workday job site once available. Our HR partners are supporting multiple divisions across the college and are working diligently to manage all postings. If you're interested in any of these opportunities, please regularly check the internal Workday site for the most up-to-date information.
Change Management Planning:
In partnership with Ana Rummer, our Change Management Strategist, and the realignment management team, we are advancing the comprehensive change management plan grounded in clarity, communication, and purpose. This plan is designed to:
- Defined Roles & Reporting Structures: Ensure Student Affairs employees have a meaningful and clearly defined role in the new structure, with clarity on who they report to and partner with
- Streamlined Functions: Reduce role redundancy and align responsibilities across teams to enhance coordination and impact
- Student-Ready Systems: Build processes and pathways that are easier for every student, faculty, and staff member— to navigate
-
Transparent Communication & Just-in-Time Training: Continue to provide clear explanations of why changes are happening and deliver training and resources to support smooth transitions
During the Culture Reboot process, many of you received introductory change management training. That training planted the seeds — this is our chance to grow deeper roots. The success of this realignment depends on all of us: embracing our roles in the change, engaging with the process, and shaping a future that better serves our students and supports each other.
