Dear Student Affairs Team Members,

I hope you are continuing to find your rhythm as we move forward in our new structure. As shared in a recent communication from our Vice Chancellor, Dr. Shasta Buchanan, we are excited to begin the rollout of our Student Affairs Training & Development Plan.

This is a reminder that the first Tier 1: Division-Wide Core module, “Student Affairs Operating Model,” will be assigned in Workday beginning Friday, April 24. This module is designed to build our shared understanding of how we operate as a division and how each of us contributes to a more connected, student-centered experience.

Before you engage in this first module, please take a few minutes to watch this video to understand what our Student Affairs Executive Leadership would like you to “Know Before You Grow.”

Tier 1 Module Release Schedule

Here is the full schedule for when the five Tier 1 Modules are expected to be assigned in Workday as follows:

Friday, April 24, 2026

  • Module 1: Student Affairs Operating Model

Friday, May 1, 2026

  • Module 2: Student Planning Experience
  • Module 3: Guiding Students Through Their Next Steps

Friday, May 8, 2026

  • Module 4: Becoming a Student
  • Module 5: Student Care & Conduct

Experiential Lab Registration

Following completion of all modules, all staff are asked to participate in a Tier 1 Experiential Lab. There, you will have the opportunity to apply your learning, engage with colleagues, and deepen your understanding through real-world scenarios. Labs will be offered throughout June and July to provide flexibility.

We encourage you to review the available dates and secure a session that works best for your schedule by clicking the button below.

Important Reminders

  • All Tier 1 modules must be completed by Friday, May 22. We will be in touch with supervisors to ensure you are able to complete your modules.
  • To make the most of your lab experience, all modules should be completed in Workday before attending your selected lab.
  • We recognize that it may be more challenging for frontline staff to carve out time to complete their modules and labs. Leaders are encouraged to support their teams to strategically prioritize time for both the module and lab participation.
  • We are giving you advance notice of these module drops in Workday so that you can strategically allot time each week to engage in them.
  • This Lecture + Lab model is designed to ensure not only a shared foundation of knowledge, but also meaningful opportunities to practice, connect, and learn from one another—something many of you highlighted as valuable during Culture Reboot.

We appreciate your continued engagement and commitment to this work. Your participation is critical to how we move forward—together—as a division in support of our students.

More details and reminders will continue to be shared as additional modules are released.

Thank you for all that you do.
