Message from the Vice President

Dear Student Affairs Colleagues,

Celebrate kindness with us! As we take a moment to appreciate the people who matter most in our lives, it is especially meaningful that our BeKind UNM Initiative in the Division of Student Affairs is once again offering the annual Kindness Carnival in the SUB Atrium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m today. I hope you’ll stop by and visit the VPSA office team who will share games, prizes, snacks, and plenty of genuine good cheer.

Another joyful BeKind UNM tradition is the annual Teddy Bear Toss at Lobo basketball games:

  • Women’s Lobo Basketball Game (vs. San Jose State)

Wednesday, Feb. 11 • The Pit • 7 p.m.

  • Men’s Lobo Basketball Game (vs. Air Force)

Tuesday, Feb. 17 • The Pit • 7 p.m.

I encourage you to bring a NEW stuffed animal to toss onto the court during halftime, giving you a chance to win one of our grand prizes generously donated by community and UNM partners. Last year, we collected a record number of teddy bears—each one donated to APD, AFR, and other local charities to offer comfort, reassurance, and a sense of safety to children experiencing frightening or traumatic situations.

I am deeply grateful to the team that leads BeKind UNM for championing one of the most meaningful qualities we can nurture: kindness.

Kindness itself is a profound form of service to our community.

With appreciation,

Eric
