HealthyTip
Tips to Eat Healthy At Restaurants
Nutritionally speaking, it's typically worse to eat out than to prepare a meal at home, but going to a restaurant shouldn't hinder us from eating healthy food. The Readers Digest offers 20 tips that will allow you to enjoy your meal as well as feel satisfied and happy when you're done. Some of them are:

 1. Ask for it your way. It comes with fries? Ask for veggies.
 2. Order from the "healthy, light, low fat" entrees that most restaurants now provide.
 3. Beware of the "low-carb" options, it doesn't mean low-cal.
 4. Order a salad, but avoid creamy sauces, bacon bits and fried options.
 5. Review the menu before leaving home to make a healthier choice.
 6. Skip the fancy drinks because they add lots of sugar.
 7. Top a baked potato with veggies or salsa to avoid the butter and sour cream.
 8. Order fish. Get it steamed, baked, broiled, blackened, or grilled - not fried!
 9. Drink water throughout the meal.
10. Skip dessert and have some sorbet at home.

If there is a topic you would like to know about or a tip that you'd like to share with us, please email Jamie Randolph with your suggestions!
Announcements
Food Drive
Phi Theta Kappa is conducting a food drive from September 8 -18 to benefit local food pantries in Gwinnett County, and we need your help! Please donate canned meats, soups, vegetables, rice, dried beans & peas, packaged snacks, boxed fruit juices, cereal, or oatmeal. Collections sites are located in the Student Life Center in building 100 and the lobby areas of buildings 700 and 900. For additional information about this service project, contact  Nancy K. Samuel.
Collecting Corks
The Rad Tech program has collected over 12,000 corks, caps and foil from wine bottles for Clothes for Souls. Each is worth 2 cents so we can financially support this global non-profit institution dedicated to fighting poverty. Besides helping the charity, it also helps the earth. The corks are recycled and not put in landfills. Did you know that it takes over 1,500 gallons of water to grow the cotton required for just one pair of jeans and each American discards over 65 pounds of clothing per year? Help us by continuing to donate your corks! Drop off is in bldg. 200, room 245.
Collecting Aluminum Can Tabs
The Future Cardiovascular Technologist Club and the Association for Radiologic Technologist are collecting can tabs. One gallon of tabs equals a one night stay in the Ronald McDonald House for a family. Together, we've already collected eight gallons, but we can do more! Help us by bringing your aluminum can tab donations to room 121, 245 or 133 in bldg. 200. Thank you!
