Dominican Republic Mission Trip
Tentatively June 1-9, 2022
APPLICATIONS DUE NOVEMBER 15

We are planning for this year's Student Ministry International Mission Trip to be to the Dominican Republic, where we will work alongside MBBC's own Anne Peyton Baker and Kids Alive International at the Casa Monte Plata Children's Home.

We'll be doing light construction and offering programming for the kids at the school and children's home. The trip is open to those who have completed 9th grade by the time of the trip.

Final cost and exact dates are to be determined by number of participants and exact airfare, however you can know that MBBC members' trip cost is reduced by funding from the Missions Committee, and fundraising will offset all/much of the remaining cost. (Simply by proximity this trip will be less expensive than South Africa, for instance.) Also, Kids Alive requires all trip participants to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the trip.
Mandatory Mission Team Trainings will take place in the Spring.

If you want to be part of this mission team, please submit your application by November 15.

A RESOURCE FOR THIS MONTH
3 Big Questions that Change Every Teenager

This new book from our friends at the Fuller Youth Institute is a great companion piece for parents to go along with and based on the same research as our new students SMBS series. It is designed to help parents have Jesus-centered conversations leading to Jesus-centered answers to students biggest questions about identity, belonging, and purpose.

--

About the book:

Today’s teenagers are the most anxious, adaptive, and diverse generation in history—which can make it hard for us to relate. And while every teenager is a walking bundle of questions, 3 rise above the rest:

Who am I?
Where do I fit?
What difference can I make?

Young people struggle to find satisfying and life-giving answers to these questions on their own. They need caring adults willing to lean in with empathy, practice listening, and gently point them in the direction of better answers: that they are enough because of Jesus, they belong with God’s people, and they are invited into God’s greater story.

Based on new landmark research from the Fuller Youth Institute and in-depth interviews plus data from 2,200 diverse teenagers, Kara Powell and Brad M. Griffin offer pastors, youth leaders, mentors, and parents practical and proven conversations and connections that help teenagers answer their three biggest questions and reach their full potential.
