Calling all students! The Latornell Conservation Symposium is Canada’s largest gathering of environmental and conservation sector specialists, typically held annually at the Nottawasaga Inn Resort & Conference Centre. An important part of the Symposium is the annual student poster competition. Now in its 28th year, the poster competition will take on a virtual format on May 27th in response to the ongoing pandemic. The Latornell Conservation Symposium has developed a reputation for quality, and is a wonderful experience for students (as well as professors who have a practical bent and an interest in conservation).
The poster session has proven to be an excellent experience for students, as they are usually engaged by the thoughtful questions and comments during the two hour poster session. In years past, most of the symposium audience were professional rather than academic, giving students quite a different perspective and a chance to pique the interest of potential employers, all while building your personal brand as a burgeoning subject matter expert and flexing your networking muscles. There are also cash prizes to be won, from $200 – $500 for the top posters and presenters!
