Staying in Touch

While Keeping Our Distance

Summer Send-Off Edition

Crossing the Finish Line with Gratitude

Typhanie Jackson

Director of Student Services

Gratitude- this school year we started the year talking about gratitude . It is only fitting that we end the year this way. I am so grateful to all of you for what you have done to support our department and district. In spite of all of the challenges, we have made it to the end, continuing to assist students (and each other) right through the finish line. As we reflect on this year, I am so thankful for all of your collective achievements. The teamwork, commitment, and support demonstrated by our schools and this department has been unbelievable. Thank you again for everything, I truly appreciate you. Enjoy your summer; you deserve it.

It's Not Goodbye, It's See You Later

It's that bittersweet time of year where some of New Haven Public Schools' difference-makers have decided it's time to head off to other ventures. We know that you've likely been out to celebrate these individuals over the past few weeks, but please take the time to thank them in these last few days. We are eternally grateful for the impact and mark they've left on NHPS and our students. Our retirees will always have a home in NHPS and remember, it's not goodbye, it's see you later.

Touching Hearts, Shaping Lives

Milvia Concas has been dedicated to New Haven Public Schools for the past 35 years, first as a bilingual teacher at Vincent Mauro School for 9 years, then a district-wide itinerant bilingual school psychologist for 15 years, and finally as the supervisor of school psychologists and special education for the past 12 years.

Needless to say, Milvia has touched many lives and hearts in her time here at New Haven! Her favorite parts of the job have been supporting families, staff, and students, and assisting in providing services for those families and students most at-risk.

When she’s not working, Milvia enjoys doing Zumba, spending time with friends and family, and lately has been getting into gardening. If she was not a dedicated and talented educator, Milvia would have liked to be an attorney. We are so happy to have had many wonderful years with Milvia, and wish her the best in her retirement. We love you!
