Supporting Student Success through Assessment

seedling_sprout.jpg

Greetings my Student Services friends!

With the Fall semester well under way, I hope that you have had some time to breathe. At the end of last semester, you either developed an assessment plan or identified your first improvement plans. Now is the time to put those plans into action! You will have the opportunity to share the data collected this semester in your Fall 2022 assessment document due Friday, December 16th.

Responding to IAA Feedback

Hopefully you have also had a chance to reflect on the IAA feedback for your Student Services Outcomes Assessment documents sent on Friday, August 26th. We know that this process is new for many of you, and you're still growing in your assessment roles. If you find yourself a bit overwhelmed, you are not alone! Remember improvement is part of the process, and we are here to support you. We hope that you found the IAA feedback helpful for strengthening your assessment practices.

Some of you have already reached out about making changes to further improve your Student Services assessment process this semester that differ from what was included in your Spring 2022 assessment documents. That is perfectly acceptable! Any changes to your assessment process or measurement tool for this semester would be reflected in your Fall 2022 assessment documents.

Upcoming Events

In addition, we are hosting two survey design workshops this semester since many of you utilize surveys in your assessment process. Please see the bottom of this message for more details and registration!

Based on positive feedback we have received, IAA is also offering Student Services Charrettes again in November to provide an opportunity for units to receive peer feedback and learn more about Student Services Outcomes assessment processes across the university. We are tentatively planning to host a charrette on the Statesboro campus on Wednesday, November 30th from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm and on the Armstrong campus on Friday, December 2nd from 9:30 am - 12 pm. To help us prepare for these events, please use this Google form to indicate which charrette event works best for you.

Recognition and Appreciation

We know assessment takes a lot of time and effort, and it was a pleasure to highlight some excellent examples of Student Services assessment from Leadership & Community Engagement, Career & Professional Development, the Academic Success Center, and the Counseling Center at the Learning Improvement & Assessment Expo in August.

Thank you for your engagement in Student Services Outcomes assessment to showcase how our student and academic support services support student success.

As always, feel free to request a consultation if you have questions or would like to talk through any of your assessment processes.

All the best,

Serena
