Student Spotlight: Meet Dayanara Vasquez, Dual Enrollment Scholar

Congratulations to Dayanara Vasquez, a senior at HJSHS. Dayanara, who was nominated by Dr. Cooper, the Dean of Arts and Science at TCL, received the Young Achiever Award on April 30th, presented by TCL's Vice President for Student Success, Allison Canning. She has demonstrated leadership in both her school and local community and has excelled academically at both the high school and collegiate levels. She is a determined young lady who always strives for excellence. Dayanara is self-driven, motivated, and highly reflective of her actions, showcasing an unwavering determination for success. Additionally, she is very respectful toward her peers and adults. She serves as a role model for her peers by pursuing an associate degree in Arts and Science, an associate degree in Liberal Arts, and several academic certificates while completing her high school requirements. This young lady has shown commitment, leadership, honor, and discipline as she sets a high standard for others to embrace. We are extremely proud of this JCSD scholar and her academic achievements.

Scholars Attend Boot Camp During Spring Break

Instead of hanging around the house during spring break, many of our MCJROTC cadets chose to sharpen their skills at Parris Island’s Boot Camp. Led by professionals, they were exposed to skills learned in boot camp. They visited a gas chamber, learned how to repel, showed off their marksmanship skills, and spent some time with cadets from across the state. Congratulations to our scholars for displaying initiative by embracing this opportunity to grow as soldiers, students, and citizens.

Poetry Month at HJSHS

April is Poetry Month. Our high school English classes were challenged to write a line of poetry on our school display.

Parent & Family Event: Mother's Day Celebration & Learning Strategy Workshop

Join us for an event featuring our District's Math and English Specialists, who will share effective testing strategies for the upcoming season and tips to prevent summer learning loss. Additionally, we will honor mothers with a student presentation on the history of Mother's Day celebrations.
