Internship provides student a role in COVID-19 response team
The college has 15 business students currently completing their summer internships. One student's work involved taking part in testing for COVID-19. T homas Miller, a ROTC cadet and Management major from Spring Branch worked with ColdChain – Technology Services these past few months as a Logistics Management intern.

During his internship Tom was a member of their COVID-19 response team and worked daily to ensure test kits were available to key locations around the State of Texas.
Summer 2020 Distinguished Student
Congratulations to Rosa Centeno who has been selected as the Summer 2020 Distinguished Student Award recipient for the College of Business Administration. She is a finance major from Huimilpan Queretaro in Mexico.

The purpose of the Distinguished Undergraduate/Graduate Student Award is to recognize outstanding Texas A&M University - Kingsville students. The awards are sponsored by the Student Government Association.
Faculty research focuses on Wind Energy
Wind energy and wildfires are popular subjects these days, but they are rarely talked about at the same time. Dr. Francisco Haces-Fernandez, assistant professor in the College of Business Administration at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, connected both these topics for a study that was chosen for inclusion in Energies, a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
 
It is Haces-Fernandez' hypothesis that wind power is the solution to the number of wildfires caused as damaged overhead transmission lines create sparks when subjected to high winds. READ MORE 
Faculty Retirement Announcement
Dr. Barbara Oates, Professor in the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems, is retiring this summer. It is with mixed feelings that we say goodbye to Dr. Oates, a wonderful colleague and a valued member of our department. She joined the university in 1991 as one of the first female faculty members in the College of Business Administration. Serving in the College of Business Administration for 28 years as a senior faculty member, a role that Dr. Oates executed with enthusiasm and true dedication to our students and our program.

Throughout her career, she has served as an inspiration and mentor to her students and colleagues. On behalf of the Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration, we would like to thank Barbara for her many contributions and years of service. Best wishes on your retirement!
