In late April, 32 JAG-K students traveled to Orlando to participate in competitions that culminate Regional and State Career Development Conferences held in the spring in each of the 38 states with JAG programs. Those students made our state proud, with several placing in the competition categories.

Also worthy of note is that Ryah Klima, 2022 Concordia High School graduate, completed her term as National Career Association president by presiding over the national event.

Outgoing JAG-K Career Association President, Nuru Abdallah from Wyandotte High School, and Vice President Liberty Gilkey, Kiowa County, participated in business meetings representing Kansas at the national convention in Orlando.

JAG-K Connects With Banking Professionals to Learn About Careers, Financial Literacy

Members of the Kansas Bankers Association (KBA) teamed up with JAG-K to educate students about opportunities in the banking industry as well as tips on financial literacy. "JAG-K Week with the KBA," April 10-14, was observed by JAG-K programs throughout the state in collaboration with banks in their respective areas.

Great Bend High School Senior Receives National JAG Scholarship

Ashley Reddig, a senior at Great Bend High School, was announced recently by JAG as one of 35 Kenneth M. Smith Scholars nationwide who will receive $2,000 toward their college education. The scholarship program honors the extraordinary leadership and 43 years of service of the first and only President and CEO of Jobs for America's Graduates, Inc., Ken Smith.

Augusta JAG-K Students Help Foster Care Home Prepare for Opening

In addition to career and leadership development, JAG-K emphasizes the importance of community service in preparing students for the future. Community service and civic awareness are important elements of the evidence-based JAG model. JAG-K provides opportunities for students to explore careers through employer engagement relationships.
