Crossroads Student Ministries
Weekly Newsletter

One of the things I love most about being in this community is the emphasis on service, and how vital that is to our vision. Our ministry area SERVE stands for Service, Encounter, Renew, Vision, and Educate and helps people of all ages " become servants for justice and compassion." Intersect students help with SERVE projects frequently- for example, this Sunday, Intersect Middle will be creating Valentines for families at the Adler Center for End of Life Care, the center that lovingly supported my mom and family in our final weeks together.

Students and families have an awesome opportunity to get outside of their comfort zone and serve with our DC Food and Fellowship mission on February 17 from 11:30-1:30pm. We highly encourage all our Middle and High schoolers to go downtown and experience what this mission is about and look into the faces of those we are serving. It may seem intimidating, or even scary, to your student or you as a parent. But taking a risk in this secure, supported way will be transformative! The students will be learning more about homelessness and creating care packages with socks and handwarmers during Intersect.
Email me here to let me know your student is in!

We would love to have parents volunteer to serve alongside their student and continue these conversations at home. We really believe the family is the faith-forming center, and service is an essential component to growing deeper in faith.

PS: Students and Families are encouraged to attend our TREK to Transformation Leadership Gathering this Sunday, February 10, 11:30-1:30 for a meal together, teaching on the Bible, and an inter-generational time of sharing. It is a wonderful space for connection and learning together as a community. Register here!

This Sunday in Intersect...
Intersect Middle: Intersect Middle will be looking at 1 John 4 and what it means to say "God is Love." When we show love, we are showing others who God is. The students will be demonstrating love in the community by making Valentines for families at the Adler Center for End of Life Care.

Intersect High: Intersect High will be asking, "how does Love Win in this room?" We talk a lot about love being the most important thing, but what does that love look like in our Sunday morning class? The students will be designing guidelines to ensure active love during our gathering time.

Intersect Middle meets at 10am in the Discipleship Room and Intersect High Meets at 10am in the Ryan Chapel. Games, laughter and breakfast snacks always included! Contact Erin if you are interested in serving with Intersect one Sunday a month
