Do students prefer face-to-face or online classes? Which kind of students prefer which format? What kind of activities work better face-to-face or online? A new report from EDUCAUSE responses to these questions and more and "provides technology and higher education leaders with recommendations for addressing students' most pressing technology support and solution needs, with the goal of enriching students' learning experiences on campus and helping to advance student success."

  • Even though evolving technology creates new ways to learn online, most students continue to value face-to-face classes and live interaction for student-faculty conferences and labs and demonstrations.

  • Students report that instructors most often use tech in class to bring in content materials. Less often, instructors engage students in active learning using laptops, tablets, and smart phones.

  • Full accessibility to technology for students of all abilities continues to be a pressing issue.
