Featured Photo

Some people see nothingness and wasteland in the desert. Others see a place for solitude and soul cleansing. While traveling US 50 in Nevada, one has plenty of time for reflection.

Sound Stories
Herbert Harsh

Herbert Harsh was born and raised in Ohio. When he learned about the attack on Pearl Harbor, he did like many others did. He enlisted. He went to pilot training school and eventually became a B-17 instructor during his time in Texas. In spring 1945, he was sent to Europe where he flew three missions before the end of WWII in Europe.

On his way home, ferrying a B-17 across the Atlantic, his aircraft went down in the Atlantic--a forced ditching. Nineteen individuals were onboard, nine crewmembers and 10 passengers. Of the 19, only four survived. Herb was one of the four. His story is a remarkable one. You can listen to it here.

Thoughts on Motorcycling
Although the web site, Sojourn Chronicles, is going to be phased out, the travel writing and photography ... sometimes on a motorcycle, will be a regular feature at DBrentMiller.com, published as whole articles rather than pieces in the blog. And, don't be surprised if you find a few travel stories in Sound.

Christmas is fast upon us, but coming up in January and February are the Midwestern motorcycle shows. The dreaming starts now. The sitting is coming up. And, the riding is only a few months away. Stay tuned.

Thanks for reading. See you on the highway.
