May 2020 Newsletter
New Information for our Families is Included

RDC's Physical Studio will remain closed until Monday May 18. At this point, the County of Los Angeles Stay at Home order is still in place until May 15th. We will continue to keep everyone updated as anything changes.
RDC New Studio Procedures
New processes will be implemented upon reopening-
  1. RDC will comply with all State, County and Local rules about social distancing and sanitation. (Taken from LA County Public Health requirements for Schools)
  2. Students, faculty, staff and families should stay home when they are sick. All should stay home until you are free of fever for at least 72 hours without fever reducing medication.
  3. Students or staff who complain of not feeling well will have their temperature taken and sent home if they have a fever of 100.4°F or above and/or respiratory infection symptoms. Parents need to update their emergency contact information to ensure dancers can be picked up immediately.
  4. Students who show symptoms will be separated from staff and others until they go home.
  5. RDC will no longer provide water from stand alone dispensers. Every student should bring their own labeled water bottle to class. RDC will continue to sell water and other drinks in the lobby.
  6. Class water breaks will be taken inside each classroom to reduce the number of students in the lobbies.
  7. Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the entry doors of each lobby AND inside Studios C and D. Students and adults dropping them off should use them as they enter and exit the building.
  8. We will be restricting the number of non-dancers (parents, siblings etc.) in the lobbies to protect our customers, staff and faculty. Please just drop off your dancer with their dance bag (including all necessary shoes and a water bottle) - we will take care of the rest.
  9. We will be re-engineering dance rooms to create social distance recommended spacing (6 feet between students’ dance spaces).
  10. We will modify classroom activities to minimize very close contact among students and teachers. Sorry but please let your dancers know that hugs, high fives and any physical contact will be prohibited between teachers, assistants, staff and any dancers.
  11. Dancers should wash hands before and after class and after sneezing or coughing
  12. Sneeze or cough only into crook of the arm and then immediately wash hands or use hand sanitizer.
  13. Faculty and Staff will be wearing protective masks and other items as recommended by the County of Los Angeles Public Health officials. Students and parents will be asked to comply with all recommendations of public health officials.
  14. All classroom props & ballet barres have been thoroughly sanitized prior to opening. All furniture and other surfaces have been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to opening. RDC staff and hired cleaning crew will continue to clean and sanitize public areas (lobbies, classrooms and bathrooms) throughout each day.
  15. RDC processes and procedures will be modified as recommended by County of Los Angeles Public Health Officials.

RDC is open and continuing with RDC's Online Academy providing virtual dance classes to our existing students DURING THEIR REGULAR STANDARD CLASS TIMES WITH THEIR REGULAR TEACHERS. These classes will be posted on the teacher's Band pages. All pre-recorded classes will stay on band for a full week so you can watch them at any time during that week. Some teachers are hosting Live classes using Zoom that are NOT recorded. Make sure you check you band first thing in the morning on your regular class day to see if your class is GOING LIVE!

How Long Will the RDC Online Academy Continue? At this time we are planning to resume regular classes on Monday, May 18th. This date is subject to change as circumstances change. We will update our families as more information is available from the government.

Are there any restrictions on Band Postings? For the health and well being of our dancers and faculty, RDC will not post anything BEFORE 9am or AFTER 9pm Monday to Friday and BEFORE 9am or AFTER 5pm on Saturday. No posting on Sundays. We ask that you respect the same time frames.
