Dear Parents,

During this time of uncertainty, we know that many of you are wondering what our plan will be moving forward. Without knowing the timeline and length of this event, it is challenging to make some decisions immediately. We will continue to send weekly emails on Sunday afternoon. Our studios are made up of an amazing community of families and we are looking forward to being able to refer to this in the past tense as something we all went through together.

Mass Motion Dance has been a small family owned business for over 35 years. This is the first time that we have ever faced challenges like the ones we are faced with now. Our goal is to survive this event financially and to be able to continue to do what we love the most - to bring the art of dance to the community and to teach your children to dance and move and be strong, confident, healthy individuals.

We hope continue to pay all of our faculty. Our faculty is made up of fabulous, talented and passionate dancers who all need to continue to survive while our “physical” doors are closed. Right now, they need your support too.

We want to make sure that you know that during this, our operating costs have NOT decreased. If anything, our costs have increased. We still have to pay rent, faculty, utilities (even though they may be a bit lower while the studio is dark)... and we have more costs for operating business online with additional digital storage and platforms.

Virtual Dance Studio - Transition To Online Training

We have made every effort to continue our classes and dance education online and DO NOT intend to “close”. We learned a new way of working and teaching - literally overnight. We hope that your dancers have continued their dance training at home. The dancers have worked hard to get to where they are in their training and they owe it to themselves to continue training at home. They will learn that “the show must go on” even when they are presented with challenges. It will help them physically, mentally and emotionally to persevere. It will give them a sense of routine and normalcy as well as a feeling of community and accountability while they are not seeing their friends.

While we know that it is not the same, and dancers don’t get the same personalized “hands-on” attention, there are many benefits and their training will be maintained. We will adhere to local regulation when making a decision to restart in-person classes. RIGHT NOW, WE KNOW THAT WE WILL BE CLOSED AT LEAST THROUGH THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL. We will be reaching out and checking in with each class personally.

In the meantime, we will continue to add videos to our VIMEO PAGE . We will also be posting information on our PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP . We will be doing LIVE classes in our private group as well as INSTAGRAM so that dancers can commit to a time to dance together. We will also be sharing a Google Folder where we will continue to upload worksheets and resources for ALL AGES. That will be sent by email soon.

Tuition and Contributions

We do plan to keep your enrollment “active” and continue with autopay. If you are in a position to continue as normal, we humbly ask that you do so. If you realistically need for us to suspend your tuition, or need assistance, send us an email and we can discuss options. We know that this is a difficult and uncertain time for many of our families. Thank you in advance for your understanding and continued support! We want to keep you dancing! Regardless of your decision, you do have access to our online training. We do not want your child to miss out on all of the positive benefits to dance training because of this unfortunate situation.

  • We only ask that you be honest with your decision and do what you can to support us.
  • We support your decision and personal needs, but asking for your help and support

Many of our families are financially affected by this event. Many are servers, restaurant owners, or service workers, who are out of work and experiencing unexpected financial instability. If you are in a position to help support one of these families by taking over a portion or all of their tuition payment or if you would like to make a donation to the studio to help us through this tough time, please let us know. You can make a one time donation through these links:

We Are Here For You

We are available and open to communication. The best way to reach us is by email, the studio phones have also been forwarded directly to our own personal cell phones so that you can reach us at any time.

Thank you for being a part of the Mass Motion Dance family.

Sincerely,

Mass Motion Dance Sturbridge, Boston and Medfield Faculty and Staff
