May Grads: Fill Out the Graduation Input Form

ESF will hold its May Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11, at the Empower FCU Amphitheater at Lakeview to recognize students who will be completing their degree requirements this semester.


All December graduates are required to complete the Graduation Input Form, which includes information including how you want your name to appear in the program and the mailing address for your diploma. To access the form, open the link in incognito mode and use your esf.edu credentials.


The deadline is to complete the form is April 5.

Dan Cronin Speaks at UN Climate Action Roundtable



Landscape Architecture Assistant Professor Dan Cronin is speaking at the United Nations roundtable on DG 13 Climate Action: Solving the Rubik's cube of the planetary crisis: lining up policy solutions for climate risks and biodiversity.

The roundtable is on the importance of strengthening preparedness to climate extremes through multi-hazard early warning systems, and on holistic policies that simultaneously address both the biodiversity and climate crises. Cronin is participating in Part 2, which focuses on actions to address jointly climate change and biodiversity loss.

Do you wonder about waste? Join Oakie's Green Team and the Office of Sustainability on March 21 from 11 a.m. to 2p.m. to dig into campus trash and recycling. Participants will help to weigh/sort trash and recycling to better understand what is thrown away on campus. This information will help us improve our zero-waste program.

Nominate an Honorary Degree Candidate

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to nominate an honorary degree candidate. The honorary doctorate is the highest form of recognition offered by the State University of New York to persons of exceptional distinction whose accomplishments serve as exemplars to students and elevate the State University as a whole.

Students: Participate in Earth Science Symposium


ESF graduate and undergraduate students are invited to participate in The Central New York Earth Science Student Symposium.


Saturday, April 20 I 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. I Heroy Geology Lab, SU campus


The symposium consists of two poster sessions and talks where graduate and undergraduate students can present their research in earth science-related fields (i.e., hydrology, ecology, soil science, etc.). Dr. Patrick Fulton from Cornell University is the keynote speaker.

Timber Harvest Planned

The Forest Properties Department is planning an approximately 237-acre timber harvest on the Dubuar Memorial Forest at the Ranger School. This sale will feature a wide range of silvicultural treatments, that were cooperatively developed with Faculty from the Ranger School, to enhance learning opportunities for students, improve residual stand health and vigor, and supply forest products to local mills. A portion of the sale revenue will be used to upgrade the eastern portion of Sugar Bush Road.
