Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do I need to register?
A. Yes.  This is a big event and we need to know who is coming so we can plan accordingly.  Please pre-register online for the summit.  You must be registered to take part in any of the summit activities.

Q. Why does it cost $50?
A.  The HMBA has worked hard to keep costs down for the event.  We have worked every angle to get free stuff, but there are hard costs for the event.  HMBA is attempting to break even on the event so we can spend money where we like to... building trails!

Q. Can I attend just part of the event?
A. Absolutely, but you must register for the summit to take part in any of the sessions or summit activities.

Q. Where can I stay while I'm in town?
A. The Seasons Lodge in Nashville is a sponsor of the 2013 Great Lakes Summit. Summit participants receive a discount for staying the weekend of the event.  Just mention the summit when you call.

Primitive group tent camping is also available at Brown County State Park.  You must be registered in order to camp in the group campsite.

Q. Will I have time to check out the trails?
A. Of course!  There will be ample time for riding both Saturday and Sunday.

Q. I am a land owner/manager  Is this summit right for me?
A. We are offering a Land Managers Workshop on Friday.  This workshop is free for land manager and includes lunch.  Click here for details. Click here for details.

Sub-9 Schooner Shakedown

The Sub-9 Schooner Shakedown is an individual, time-trial, point to point race on the double-black diamond (expert level) Schooner Trace mountain bike trail at Brown County State Park.

Racers will compete against a clock while additional time bonuses are awarded for clearing the most difficult obstacles along the course.  The event is only open to 50 individuals competing in Open Men, Open Women and Singlespeed categories.

The Sub-9 Schooner Shakedown is part of the 2013 IMBA Great Lakes Regional Summit weekend!  Summit participants get FREE entry to the Shakedown.  Simply register for the Summit and receive a coupon code in your confirmation email waiving your Shakedown entry.  Non-summit participants can register directly through BikeReg for only $35.

The 2013 course will feature a technically demanding, 3-mile section on the double-black diamond, Schooner Trace mountain bike trail.  Rider will encounter natural rock outcrops combined with hand place rock work to challenge even the most experienced - with plenty of penalty for failure in the hard-to-access ravines.

Join us for the Shakedown After Party featuring live music from solo "jam" artist Derick Howard, complimentary beer from Big Woods Brewing Company (must be 21+), plus lots of fun and games for everyone to be included!

Bring some cash for "Shakedown Street" where The Big Cheeze food truck will be on-site serving Bloomington's best grilled cheese sandwiches!

Thank you to all our 2013 IMBA Great Lakes
Regional MTB Summit Sponsors!
