New Venue, New Course
We're moving!
Exciting things have been happening in Victoria! We've been working on a brand new one-loop bike course, and a new venue with more parking close by. Get ready to get pumped, because this race is going to a whole new level!
We are moving the race venue to the other end of Elk/Beaver Lake. Beaver Beach is easy to access from the Highway via Elk Lake Drive, and provides a beautiful setting for the IRONMAN Village.
If you love technology we've got an addition to our course page that you're going to ADORE. GPX files for your GPS, and KMZ files for Google Earth. Take your training and preparation up a notch!
Not so into it, but want to be? You don't need a fancy GPS to take advantage of these new files. The first step is to download Google Earth, which is FREE! This program is a fantastic tool, and an amazing way to virtually experience a race course.
Going to a single-loop bike course has added some serious real estate on to the Victoria experience.
New to the roster this year is the beautiful town of Sidney. This quiet sea-side community has some powerful assets, especially for those travelling to the area. Besides having the bike course go right through town:
Sidney is located right next to the Victoria International Airport.
The BC Ferries running from Vancouver to Victoria come in to Swartz Bay, just minutes up the highway.
The Washington Ferry service runs between Anacortes and Sidney!
This is a fantastic home base for the race, and Sidney is excited to welcome athletes to the area.
Race entries are a hot commodity this year, and available entries are dwindling quickly! If you are still on the fence it is time to start seriously thinking about jumping in. Don't say we didn't warn you...
Don't forget about Relay Teams: Relay teams are a wonderful way to share race day with some friends or family. 2- and 3-person teams are available. Relay teams will receive a team race kit, and each team member will receive an athlete bag, shirt, finisher hat, and finisher medal.
