Greetings! 

It's not long until the next phase of Sublime launches with a week of activity including artists' installations, sound works, talks, children's workshops, tours and evening projections. Presented in collaboration with The University of Aberdeen and funded by The Highland Council, Creative Scotland & Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Come and join us on Saturday 1 September 19.30 - 21.00 to celebrate the start of the Sublime programme in Cromarty; preview new work by Stephen Hurrel and Mark Lyken and experience their collaborative outdoor projection as the sun sets over the Sutors!�� FREE - all welcome and no need to book!���

Since May artists Stephen Hurrel (picture) and Mark Lyken have been accompanying researchers on field trips to diverse and challenging locations in order to create new works that investigate parallels between marine mammal and human senses; exploring how sound and light, whether it be natural or man-made, affect behaviour. Talks Programme: British Science Festival

Sublime is linking in with this year's British Science Festival, hosted by the University of Aberdeen from 4 - 9 September. A programme of talks have been developed exploring some of the Field Station's research and its links with industry in the Moray Firth.

Black Isle Words 2012 & Doors Open in Cromarty

It'll be a busy week in Cromarty as well as Sublime you can also take in the Black Isle Words Festival from  

7 - 9 September. Events at the lighthouse include maritime poems from Ian Stephen, short films by Andy Mackinnon of Taigh Chearsabhagh and a children's workshop from Ronda & David Armitage - the creators of the Lighthouse Keeper stories. On Saturday 8 September you can also visit several Cromarty properties, including the lighthouse, from 10.00 - 16.00 as part of Doors Open Day.

To coincide with the Sublime launch the audio component of Mark Lyken's installations The Terrestrial Sea has be released as an EP in collaboration with Gamma Proforma.  

 

It is now available to download from iTunes priced �4.99.
