Revised Award Categories for 2021 FOSCL Awards
Library supporters, advocates, and library or government employees have overcome and thrived in 2020, and the Friends of SC Libraries wants to recognize those achievements. Review awards brochure with revised award categories and nominate a deserving library champion today! 

Award categories include
  • Outstanding Friends Group
  • Outstanding Individual
  • Outstanding Public Official
  • Public Library Employee Excellence
  • John Landrum Advocacy Award

Deadline for Awards Nominations Extended to March 15, 2021.
2021 FOSCL Grants - Submit By May 31st
The Friends of South Carolina Libraries (FOSCL) offers grants in amounts up to $250 for support of library Friends organizations in SC. The grants are intended to assist friends groups with an emphasis on the following purposes:
Expenses related to the formation/incorporation of a group
Expenses related to obtaining 501(c) 3 tax-exempt status for a group
Expenses related to the revitalization of a “dormant” group
Expenses related to the initiation of new or innovative programs/technology designed to foster local library support which are principally sponsored by a library friends group
Friends Groups submitting applications must be a member of FOSCL. 

Please join the South Carolina Library Association, the South Carolina Association for School Librarians, and the Friends of South Carolina Libraries in the 2021 library advocacy campaign by sharing your library's COVID-19 story.

Suggested items to include:
- Services provided during the pandemic
- Patron success stories
- Community-specific stories

Deadline for participation is March 31st, 2021.
  • Submit a narrative (300 words max) and one (1) photo of your library via the following form: https://bit.ly/Sharestory2021
  • Submissions do not need to hold a membership to any professional organization. A book for each district will be created from the submissions. 
  • Each book will be open access, freely downloadable and CC-BY-NC-ND
  • Each book will be printed and given to district-specific Federal Legislators through the mail and also presented digitally during South Carolina Library Legislative visits the week of April 19th, 2021.

Apply to host a traveling Smithsonian exhibit!

"Voices and Votes: Democracy in America" will tour six South Carolina communities from April 2022 – January 2023. Host sites receive free exhibit rental, a grant to support local community programming, opportunities for professional development, and more. Eligible host sites include small museums, libraries, historical societies, cultural centers and other community venues in towns of fewer than 20,000 residents.
