Watering Guidelines
After years of working in the industry and building a nursery business around Oklahoma's inclement weather, we are suggesting the following maintenance guidelines:

* Apply Marcum's Slow Release 18-6-12 fertilizer to warm-season grasses. 

* Divide and replant crowded hybrid iris (bearded iris) after flowering until August. 

* Don't forget to mulch. We have many choices of premium mulches to choose from. 

* Apply Hi-Yield Grub Free Zone 111  from late June to mid-July to prevent white grubs.

Rose rosette disease (RRD) was first identified in the 1940s in the ______ Mountains.

Many of the RRD symptons include but aren't limited to the following: elongated shoots, excessive number of _____, branch die-back, leaf discoloration and leaf distortion. 

The ____ mites are microscopic and may be easily transferred by gardening tools and leaf blowers.

Dahlia's Dirt On Rose Rosette Disease!
 

Oklahoman's are becoming more and more concerned with the rose rosette disease (RRD) as we've seen more and more visible evidence across our state. All landscape roses are susceptible so early education and detection is crucial. 


This disease is caused by a plant virus and is transmitted by grafting or by the microscopic eriophyid mites.  Removal and heavy pruning of symptomatic canes, fallen debris and leaves can be effective as "the mites will die in about a day in the absence of a host." - Oklahoma Coop Extension Service #EPP-7329
