Successful Solutions
Picutre of a remote training session.

We can help your organization with its professional development, learning, consulting, and event management needs.

Greetings!

We hope that all of our friends, colleagues and business partners, are enjoying the start of spring, and drawing on the energy of this season of renewal. As I speak with colleagues and clients, they indicate that their business needs, just like our spring gardens, continue to grow and require innovative and solutions for emerging challenges in the engagement, retention, and development of their workforce.

Here are a few challenges that our clients and prospects are facing, and you may be too:

  • Do you have experienced leaders whose business or interpersonal results would be greatly enhanced by professional coaching?

  • In today's rapidly changing business world, every organization needs a clear picture of its current leaders' capabilities as well as the potential of its emerging leaders. Creating bench strength is critical as leaders develop and move on both inside and outside of your organization.

  • Is your organization facing a current or impending loss of skills and expertise as "boomers" retire or begin to reduce their work schedules?

  • Are you looking for high-quality, proven resources in the field of Learning and Talent Development?

For information on how we can help your organization with its professional development, learning, consulting, and event management needs, read on and be sure to visit our new website.

Sincerely,

Christine R. Gatti, Director

Announcing the Coaching Center at UMDI

How does a student become a better musician, artist, scientist or team member? Coaching, of course! In recent years, Business Coaching has grown, and has gone from fashionable to fundamental with leaders and organizations understanding how valuable it can be. In a nutshell, coaching increases effectiveness, expands thinking, identifies strengths and development areas, and is focused on setting and achieving challenging goals. Through the coach's skilled use of powerful and thought-provoking questions, the client is supported to gain insights which in turn unlock the energy necessary for change.

Here at the UMass Donahue Institute (UMDI), we see an increase in the interest in, and need for, coaching services across many organizations, levels of employees, and in a variety of business skills and roles. In response to this increasing need, we are very pleased to announce the opening of the new "Coaching Center at UMDI"!

The Value of Assessments

In today's rapidly changing business world, every organization needs a clear picture of your current leaders' capabilities as well as the potential of emerging leaders. Creating bench strength is critical as leaders move on both inside and outside of your organization.

How do your leaders measure up against the new collaborative model of leadership? How clear is their vision to lead the organization into the future, how effective are they at doing what it takes to align the workforce in support of that vision, and how successful have their implementations of that vision been?

Knowledge Transfer, Knowledge Management, and Succession Planning. Oh My!

The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that by 2010, 24 million workers will need to be replaced due to death or retirement. Some organizations could lose up to 50% of their executives in the next two to three years. As this generation leaves the workplace, the consequences of their exit and the steps necessary to ensure a smooth transition should be carefully examined.*

We recognize the impending effect of the loss of retiring leaders and employees across all industry landscapes due to large scale retirements by the baby boomer generation. Many organizations have begun to seriously examine the impact of this loss, and are seeking approaches to avoid the loss of critical, often unspoken knowledge, along with the more tangible, visible skillsets.

Professional Training & Development

New England Association for Talent Development (ATD) Regional Conference

Chris Gatti, Director of ODLS, has been an active member of ATD (previously known as the Association for Training and Development [ASTD]) for nearly three decades. A member of the Boston Chapter originally, Chris has been a Board Member of the Central Mass Chapter for over ten years, serving in nearly every Board role, including that of President. She currently serves as Director of Programs for the organization.

The organization's emphasis is on employee engagement, improving effectiveness and productivity, and reaching desired results through various talent development mediums. Eight New England ATD Chapters collaborated for the sixth consecutive year to organize and implement its annual regional conference this year on March 31st and April 1st. This year the conference theme was "Charting the Future of Learning, through which it examined new cutting edge thinking and practice, and its impact on human performance with enhanced ways of leveraging the latest thinking — from learning technologies to alternative training methodologies.

Chris served in dual volunteer roles, first as a member of the Conference Design Committee, and also as a Speaker Liaison. As a member of the committee, she was part of a small group which was responsible for the review and evaluation of nearly 100 proposals, and narrowing that down to a final group of 16.
