It was a great virtual event with over 90 attendees. We heard inspiring words from President Eli Capilouto and Dr. Lee T. Todd Jr, and recognized the Lee T. Todd Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship recipients, Elaine and Myron Jacobson, co-founders of Niadyne and Niadyne Pharma. There were wonderful presentations from Luke Bradley, UK faculty innovator and co-founder & CEO for Avast Therapeutics, Gilson Capilouto, UK faculty innovator and co-founder & CCO for NFANT Labs, James McCollum, Launch Blue Incubator participant and co-founder & chief of product for Synaptek, Janelle Molloy, Launch Blue Accelerator participant and founder & owner of Wild Dog Physics, and Tony Schmidt, UK alumni entrepreneur and CEO of GreekTrack.

IAN MCCLURE NAMED AUTM CHAIR-ELECT
Ian McClure, associate vice president for Research, Innovation and Economic Impact, was named AUTM's chair-elect at the 2021 AUTM Annual Meeting on March 18. Ian will bring his leadership and innovation skills to the chair-elect position in 2021-2022 and the chair position in 2022-2023.

"I am honored and completely humbled to be elected Chair of AUTM and to represent the University of Kentucky and the Commonwealth of Kentucky in this way. AUTM is the worldwide non-profit leader in helping to support, educate, and promote the profession of technology transfer, and I believe there is no more important time than now for the profession to shine. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has never before been a brighter spotlight on the importance of science and research and the critical advancement of discoveries to products that create economic and societal impact. Further, in the U.S., the next few years will be transformational ones with respect to innovation and technology transfer infrastructure, and globally, research institutions are increasingly being viewed as core stimulants of economic impact. I know that AUTM doesn’t take its responsibility lightly, and is ready to rise to this challenge and help prepare the profession for a high-performing and inclusive innovation ecosystem." -- Ian McClure
