Avalon Expands Beach Maintenance Efforts



The Borough of Avalon has added two new John Deere sand-moving trucks to support offseason beach maintenance and erosion response. Operated by the Avalon Department of Public Works, the trucks will be used to relocate sand from stable areas to eroded sections of the beach following storm events and ahead of larger sand back-passing and hydraulic fill projects. The Borough holds the required permits to carefully scrape and redistribute sand, supplementing long-term beach nourishment efforts without impacting other areas of the shoreline. Officials say this investment allows Avalon to respond quickly to erosion concerns while federal funding issues continue, with a full sand back-passing project planned for spring 2026.
