Wenting Xu, Mandarin Teacher
Suder Montessori will be participating in the Teachers of Critical Languages Program for again for the 2019-2020 School Year! The Teachers of Critical Languages Program, a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, is designed to increase the study and acquisition of important world languages in U.S. schools. This program will continue to enable our students to strengthen their learning of Mandarin by bringing Ms. Xu to the Suder to teach her native language and culture for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Jocelyn Wilcox, Middle School STEM Teacher
Jocelyn Wilcox is excited to begin her Montessori teaching journey with Suder Montessori this year as the Middle School STEM teacher. In college, she earned a Bachelor's in Mathematics but spent many summers teaching STEM summer camps with the Golden Apple program. She also taught STEM as a class in a variety of settings--from after-school programs, to public schools, to an international high school in China! This year, Jocelyn has an excellent opportunity to really integrate the core subjects of science and math together into engaging learning opportunities and a supportive classroom environment for students. She looks forward to collaborating with families this year!
Adrienne Thomas. Elementary 2 Teacher
Ms. Thomas is thrilled about joining the Suder family. She is a Chicago transplant, who moved to the city in 2010, and she recently graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor's in Urban Elementary Education. She is passionate about education because she believes that our learning environments, formal and informal, impact every aspect of our identities. Creating inclusive environments that are representative and safe for all students is her passion and she is excited to embark on her new journey with the Suder community. Along with being a teacher, Ms. Thomas is a singer, competitive USA Powerlifter, and a bunny mom!
