We Stand with the Asian Community
|
|
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.
-- Martin Luther King, Jr.
Whether you are a student, educator, or family member, you have a role to play in combating bias, bullying, and hate in your community. Tuesday's hate crimes were horrific and further indicates our need to stand up against racial discrimination. Courageous conversations are needed for everyone, everywhere. Here's some resources in response to Tuesday's hate crimes.
As always, Ms. Hogan is available to support students and families as needed. She can be reached via email at mhogan6@cps.edu.

Fourth Quarter at Suder Montessori
|
|
Suder Montessori is so excited that several families are interested in their children returning to school for Quarter 4! Quarter 4 begins on Monday, April 19, 2021. Please know that we will continue hybrid instruction at Suder Montessori through Quarter 4.
I am re-sharing the EC - MS Parent Presentations with families. The purpose of this presentation is to provide families with an overview of the Suder Montessori return to school plans in preparation for students’ return in the near future. All documents referenced in the presentation are below and on the Suder website. Other useful information can be found in the CPS Parent Reopening Guide or on the CPS Reopening Website.
Other Important Resources
As we transition to hybrid learning for some of our students, changes to classrooms and daily routines can be hard for our students, especially at this point in the school year. I want to assure you that we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our students. If you have any questions or if your child needs support, please contact us at bbada@cps.edu, addowd@cps.edu, and mhogan6@cps.edu. I also encourage you to review the Reopening Guide for Parents for more information.

Intent to Return for Quarter 4 Form
|
|
CPS sent Quarter 4 Intent to Return Forms to families on Monday, March 8, 2021, and today, March 19, 2021. Please confirm or complete your selection using the Intent Form for your child(ren) by 11:59 p.m., TODAY (March 19). Please complete this form even if you want your child to continue learning at home.
Please note that you will receive a separate email and form for every child in your family who qualifies for in-person learning.
By completing the form, you will help us better understand your needs and priorities, which will inform our planning for the fourth quarter. If you do not complete this form by the deadline, your child will continue learning as they are now. If you opt out of in-person learning, this option will not be available to you until next school year. If you choose in-person learning, you can switch to remote learning at any time during the fourth quarter.
We look forward to hearing from you today (March 19) by 11:59 p.m.

As we approach spring break, we want to ensure our families are aware of the new protocols and individual responsibilities regarding the Chicago Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) emergency travel order.
Domestic Travel
-
Yellow States: Travel to a yellow state does not require you to quarantine per CDPH’s guidance
-
Orange States: Anyone traveling from an orange state must obtain a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours prior to arrival in Chicago or quarantine for 10 calendar days. This order applies to residents and out-of-state visitors except those listed in the Exceptions section of the order.
International Travel:
- Negative test: Stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
- Positive test: Isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
- No test: Stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

Subsequent sessions will be held on March 31, April 14, and April 28, from 5:30-6:30 pm. Topics for the other sessions and meeting information will be shared at a later date.

Chicago Soccer Foundation Program
|
|
Because many schools are not permitted to provide sports in-house at this time, Chicago Soccer Foundation and Chicago Rec Sports have designed opportunities to help students re-acclimate themselves to recreational sports. Additionally, sports are a great way to help address social isolation and other issues surrounding a lack of physical activity.
The Chicago Soccer Foundation is excited to offer a comprehensive menu of recreational youth sports this spring at the brand new, state-of-the-art ComEd Rec Center and the new Dunbar Park Turf. Choose from many fun, low-cost, convenient, and equal opportunity programs for grades preschool through 8th grade. Families will register individually with the option to be paired with their classmates/friends. The average cost for each program is $175 per player for 8 weeks with a jersey.
Below are the links to all of our different programs that they are offering. If you have any further questions about the programs we are offering, you can call 708-970-1077 to learn more.
