ASCC Hosts 6th Community Meal in Weaverville, NC

On Thursday, July 31st, All Souls Counseling Center hosted its 6th free community dinner catered by Twisted Laurel at the First Baptist Church in Weaverville - made possible thanks to generous grant funding from the Duke Energy Foundation.

ASCC therapist Shawna Ohle, LCMHC led an impactful presentation titled Resilience: Tipping the Scale Toward the Positive. She encouraged attendees to view resilience as a scale, reminding us that our daily experiences can tip the scale in a positive or negative direction.

We’re grateful to the staff at First Baptist Church for their partnership and hospitality, and to all who attended and helped make this a meaningful evening. These dinners are more than a meal, they’re an opportunity for healing, connection, and community care.

Laughter, Hotdogs and Mental Health Support For Asheville's Food and Beverage Workers

What a day! On Saturday, August 9th our team had a blast at Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ’s Big Wiener Party, an outrageously fun hot dog showdown in the heart of Asheville’s South Slope.

The event wasn’t just about laughs and loaded dogs - it was about supporting mental health in our community. Proceeds from the day benefit Bear’s Foundation’s Linked4Life initiative, which funds 6 free sessions of mental health counseling per person for individual Asheville food and beverage workers through All Souls Counseling Center.

A huge thank you to Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ, Linked4Life, the Asheville Comedy Festival, and everyone who came out to eat, cheer, and make a difference. Together, we’re feeding more than appetites. We’re feeding hope.

The 3rd Annual Mental Health Matters: Walk/Run for Awareness is this month!

Share Your Story with All Souls Counseling Center!

This year, All Souls Counseling Center will be celebrating 25 years of providing accessible mental health care in Western North Carolina. Over the years we’ve navigated moving locations, weathered a pandemic, and supported our community through events like Hurricane Helene—all while staying committed to our mission of healing and hope.

As part of this milestone, we welcome stories from community members and partners, as well as past and present volunteers, therapists, and staff. Your story can be a short reflection, a memory, or an experience that made a difference. We may share a few special stories in our anniversary events, newsletters, social media channels, and on our website. If you choose to share a personal experience, please remember that your submission is voluntary and may be shared publicly. We encourage you to share only what you are comfortable having others know.

Please share your story here and forward this link to others who might like to contribute. Thank you for being part of 25 years of resilience, community, and care!

ASCC in the News and on the Air!

Stay connected with All Souls Counseling Center! Our monthly podcast, Soul Sessions, drops a new episode on the 15th of every month where we share insights, tools, and conversations around mental health and wellness.

We’re also honored to be featured in A Look at Asheville. The article highlights how ASCC is working to restore hope and mend souls across Western North Carolina. You can read it here.

Donor Thank You

grat·i·tude (noun) /ˈɡradəˌto͞od/ the quality of being thankful.

Generous gifts of all sizes from individuals, organizations, and foundations make the mental health and hope-giving work by the team at All Souls possible. This month we give a special shout out to organizations and individuals who help us help our neighbors in need in WNC.

The Harrah's Cherokee Casino held an internal fundraiser to benefit All Souls and to support making therapy sessions affordable for others. Initiated and led by the casino’s Operations Team, colleagues at this WNC destination and resort raised $1,230 through a payroll deduction drive in May (Mental Health Awareness Month) in memory of one of their co-workers. We are so grateful to the Cherokee Casino employees who participated. Every gift makes a difference. Thank you for your compassion and contributions!
